This Week's Scripture

"Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it." Deuteronomy 7:26

This Week's Prayer!

We invite Your Holy Spirit to dwell in these rooms, which belongs to Henry, Anthony, Zoë, Asa, Rose, Grace, and Elijah, and in Heidi, Angel, and Angela's room. You are Lord over heaven and earth, and we proclaim that You are Lord over their rooms as well. Flood it with Your light and life. We pray that You, Lord, will make their rooms a holy place, sanctified for Your glory. And may You also dwell in our room and in each one of our extended family and friend's rooms.

Investment!

Warning: this will be a long post!
Blogging has become an outlet for me to pen my thoughts but to also read other Mom’s thoughts. Many times I read about the difficult times a Mom is going through in the season of raising their children; times of sighing, times of crying, times of fighting off the enemy from stealing her joy, times of guilt, times of thinking when is my turn, when is it me time. I am not exempt from all of these. I go through more difficult times now than I ever have. Being a Mom is the most difficult responsibility I have ever had. Certain days can be so overwhelming that I want to open the front door and scream at the top of my lungs! (Luckily the neighbors want actually have to hear this because I don’t think I can really bring myself to do this BUT it may happen one day!! Ha ha)

Recently, God showed me why Motherhood is the most difficult responsibility for me. I had someone recently tell me (who was expecting twins) that this will be easy! I looked at her in awe: “easy??” I know about multiple children, not necessarily twins but I have them back to back and know the difficulties and challenges in raising them. My Mom was told the same statement by this person. Mom shed light to why it may not be difficult to be a mother and God revealed the one word that makes it difficult to be a Mom: investment! I have come to accept that this is my season with my children, this is my season to have that not so great bod, this is the season that they come first that my me time is very limited. Is it difficult.....yes! It is definitely not without a sigh here and there, a cry or two, a thought of when is it my turn, a moment when I feel the enemy trying to squeeze the joy out of me but through all of this I know this is my season to shine! I believe in living hard and being a Mom is the hardest thing I have ever encountered. Not that it is unnatural because being a Mom is natural for me so it was very exhilarating when God showed me that I am invested in my family. If it wasn't hard and difficult then I really wouldn't be invested in this calling! This revelation has released me from guilt; it has strengthened me to fight when the enemy attacks me.

You know, I look around at others: my husband, Dino and Delynn, Children’s cup missionaries in Africa, Isaac and Carol in Mozambique (there are many others): The calling to be a Dad, a Mom, a pastor, the calling to be a missionary, the calling to be a teacher, a doctor, a nurse, whatever it is that God has called you to do is not going to be easy. It is probably going to be the most difficult thing you have ever experienced.

I look at my husband and I know being a Dad is the most difficult responsibility he has ever encountered. I see our pastors serve the people with their whole heart, mind, body, and spirit. I read about the challenges of the Children’s Cup missionaries in Africa. I believe all of these people are experiencing the most difficult times of their lives. Why? Because they are invested!! All of them are depositing themselves, their time, their energy into their calling. If it wasn't hard and difficult then we really wouldn't be invested in our calling!

So today, I praise you, God, for the calling on me and Tommy's life. I thank you, Lord, that you have given me an awesome partner to be at my side through this calling as we invest in them! I choose to praise you through any difficult times I may encounter! Thank you, Lord!

Great reminder! Every investment requires a sacrifice. Sacrifices are not easy b/c they require something of value. Thanks for sharing this revelation.

Many blessings.

Great post. And that "investment" goes on for life. The day to day aspects of it leave as your children become adults and leave the home but the "investment" will go on as long as I draw breath!!!

Penless Thoughts is correct. Being a mother is a life long investment. One day they will grow up and move out of the house. You will have more time, sleep more and life won't be so busy. The moments with your children will be different but just as special, so enjoy this season and look forward to a lifetime of seasons with your children.
