This Week's Scripture

"Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it." Deuteronomy 7:26

This Week's Prayer!

We invite Your Holy Spirit to dwell in these rooms, which belongs to Henry, Anthony, Zoƫ, Asa, Rose, Grace, and Elijah, and in Heidi, Angel, and Angela's room. You are Lord over heaven and earth, and we proclaim that You are Lord over their rooms as well. Flood it with Your light and life. We pray that You, Lord, will make their rooms a holy place, sanctified for Your glory. And may You also dwell in our room and in each one of our extended family and friend's rooms.

Candidates eliminated!

Based on my initial deciding factor I use to begin my elimination process then these are the following presidential candidates that I will not take consideration for presidency: Biden, Hillary Clinton, Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Kucinich, Obama, and Richardson. Now these are the candidates that favor abortion. Now the following candidates oppose abortion BUT they seem to fall back to "it's ok for each individual" which is a "gray" way to think. I want a president who is black or white, who knows what is right and wrong and holds to those convictions. So with that said the following candidates will also be eliminated Brownback, Giuliani, and Mitt Romney. So based on the above, I will be listening very closely to Huckabee, Hunter, John McCain, Paul, Tancredo, Gilmore, and I will also watch Thompson.

I am reading more about the latter candidates and how much opposed to abortion they are. So, for me, after digging a little deeper to their views, the following candidates win the first round pick for me: Tancredo, Hunter, and Huckabee.

For me it has to be an across the board "Pro-life" stance. Voting records have to be considered. A lot of them pay lip service to being "pro-life" but are only that in word not deed. Look at Buddy Romer, our former Governor here in La. He was the best friend to the conservative pro-lifer until it came time to sign on a pro-life law.

That is why for me, I have to see everything they stand for, not just abortion. I have to know how humble, teachable, they are. Are they willing to lead across party line? Do they have a heart for the poor, how much do they give to the needy, what is their stance on the AIDS crisis, etc.

Bush has been one of the greatest in all these area. The abortion tax credit, the massive aid he signed to help the AIDS crisis, his environmental stance, and even his immagration policy, all of these ask the question, "how will this effect the poor, the Orphan, the least of these". I so respect him for that. I am not a fan of Capital punishment and I pray daily that he will be able to get the Iraq mess cleaned up but I really do feel he is and has been a great president. Sadly, history may not show that.

For me, it's a hard call this election. I can't vote for someone that is pro-choice but I also can't vote for someone that is pro-big money, consumerism is king, power hungry jingoist who forget the poor. And it looks to me that many of the Republicans and Democrats are similar on thoughs issues.

If a candidate is Pro-life but his policies create less oprotunities for Adoption and more abortions and if his policies enable the poverty mentality that prevades the minority population of this country currently, then they are no more worthy of the pro-life vote then the pro-abortion candidate.

We need a candidate that says "here's why I beleive ALL life is sacred, and here is what I am going to do to make that choice easier for you".

At least that's my opinion.

Ok, sorry that was so long :-) See why i TRY to avoid politics over at my blog ;-)

Carole, thanks for the comment! I agree with alot of what you are saying. For me, pro-life is key but I will seek to learn all their views on all the issues. But I do know, I just cannot vote for a pro-choice candidate.

Keep the politcal comments coming over here!

How about "NONE OF THE ABOVE." I always say that the person that would be the best is never in the race.
